Cassandra M. Vara was born on March 7, 1990 in Laredo, Texas. As a child, she spent her time reading, staying active in dance classes and participating in community theater productions.

At the age of 11, Vara earned her first lead role as “Annie” in the musical production, “Annie, Jr.”. Her love of the arts continued throughout her teenage years. Vara began co-directing and choreographing children’s play in her hometown of Laredo.

Vara also became a lead dancer in the Laredo dance troupe, “Dance City Company.” During her time with the company, Vara performed onstage with musical artists including rapper T.I., signers Wisin y Yandel, and hip hop star Pitbull.

After high school, Vara was admitted into the St. Mary’s University Honors Program, which cemented her decision to attend the San Antonio university. There, she became active on her campus, becoming a member of the Code Blue Dance Team, the St. Mary’s University theater department, and Sigma Sigma Sigma National Sorority.

This participation led to on-campus leadership roles, including Code Blue Dance Team Coach, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority Vice President and initiation into the Gamma Sigma Alpha and Order of Omega Greek honors organizations.

Each summer, Vara returns to her hometown of Laredo, Texas, to co-direct and choreograph children’s plays and to host dance camps for underprivileged young girls.

As an English-Communication Arts major, Vara has applied her skills to obtain several jobs and internships, including positions with The Walt Disney Company, J. Crew, Inc, and The Laredo Chamber of Commerce.
